The Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) which has medical institutions belonging to all systems of medicine has not been able to deliver to the expected level due to the heavy burden on it. The Kerala Government is considering setting up an AYUSH University by bifurcating the KUHS, which can continue to be the University for Modern Medicine.
CENTRE FOR INTEGRATED MEDICINE
The health policy is pressing to start a centre for integrated medicine in one of the universities for academic interaction between various systems of medicine.
The health policy also states that existing government Ayurveda dispensaries will be renamed and revitalized as Ayurvedic primary health centres. All Ayurvedic hospitals at the district level will be strengthened and at least one Ayurvedic hospital will be established in every taluk.
