A girl is not a fruit to be tasted. She is not someone who can be used for their self-interests. One should understand the emotions of them which forms the story of the short movie ‘Niyati’.

 

The movie carries a social message on the misue of girls under abject poverty into Prostitution. Director Vijay Durgaraj has directed this movie. Prostitution though illegal is in presence since long. Devadasi practice is another noxious practice. Many social workers, thinkers, intellectuals have failed to curb this practice.

 

 

ಹೆಣ್ಣೆಂದರೆ ರುಚಿ ನೋಡುವಂತಹ ಹಣ್ಣಲ್ಲ, ಭೋಗದ ವಸ್ತುವಲ್ಲ ಅವಳ ಮನದೊಳಗಿನ ಭಾವನೆಯನ್ನು ಅರಿಯಲು ಪ್ರತೀ ಒಳಗಣ್ಣುಗಳ ಅವಶ್ಯಕತೆ ಇದ್ದೇ ಇದೆ ಎನ್ನುವ ಸಮಾಜದ ಕಳಕಳಿಯ ಕಥಾ ಹಂದರ ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಚಿತ್ರವೇ “ನಿಯತಿ”.

 

ಬಡತನ ಮತ್ತು ಹಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಹೆಣ್ಣನ್ನು ನೀಚ ಮಟ್ಟದ ಕೂಪಕ್ಕೆ ತಳ್ಳುವವರ ಮತ್ತು ಭೋಗಿಸಲು ಕಾಯುತ್ತಿರುವವರ ವಿರುದ್ಧವಾದ ಆಕ್ರೋಶವನ್ನು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಪ್ರಜ್ಞೆಯೆಂದೇ ಆಲೋಚಿಸಿ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ವಿಜಯ್ ದುರ್ಗರಾಜ್ ನಿಯತಿ ಚಿತ್ರವನ್ನು ನಿರ್ದೇಶಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

 

ವೇಶ್ಯಾವಾಟಿಕೆ ಎನ್ನುವುದು ಇಂದಿನಿಂದ ಅಲ್ಲ, ಬಹಳ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಕಾಲದಿಂದಲೂ ನಡೆದು ಬರುತ್ತಿರುವ ಹೆಣ್ಣಿನ ಶೋಷಣೆಯ ಪದ್ಧತಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಅದರೊಳಗೆ ಈ ದೇವದಾಸಿ ಪದ್ಧತಿ ಎನ್ನುವುದು ಸಹ ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಅನಿಷ್ಟ ಪದ್ಧತಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಂತಹ ಅನಿಷ್ಟ ಪದ್ಧತಿಗಳ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಸಮಾಜ ಸುಧಾರಕರು, ಬುದ್ಧಿವಂತರು ಹಾಗೂ ಸರಕಾರದವರು ಏನೇ ಚಳುವಳಿಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಗೊಂಡರು ಅದು ನಿಲ್ಲದೆ ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ, ಗುಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಸಾಗಿ ಬಂದಿದೆ.
